Elenor Carucci Private View Date : 06 January,2010

Elenor Carucci at James Hyman Gallery

 6pm -8pm

Elinor Carucci's latest photographic portfolio, Intimacy, is a beautiful and honest record of her four year old twins, Eden and Emmanuelle.

When Intimacy showed at Sepia gallery in New York, The New York Times said: "Carucci takes center stage with terrific color pictures of her young children, which recall Sally Mann's early exploration of the pleasures and terrors of motherhood.  The photographer, who appears as naked as her kids, nods to classic mother-and-child images only to undermine them with a tantrum and temperature, bruises, messes, kisses, and a playful moment of erotic exploration."

Elinor has work in national US collections, previously exhibited in the UK at the National Scottish Portrait Gallery, and The Photographers' Gallery, and was shortlisted for the prestigious BMW Prize at Paris Photo, November 2009. Her exhibition at James Hyman Gallery will be her first solo show in London since the Gagosian gallery, 2003.

This exhibition represents a significant revision of
the accepted understanding of this major Italian
movement and returns it to the central position
it occupied in the avant-garde of the years,
immediately preceding the first world war.
It will also be a first large scale showing of
Futurism in Britain in thirty years and will include
works by, among other artists, Umberto Boccioni,
Gino Severini, Giacomo Balla, Pablo Picasso,
George Braque, Raymond Duchamp-Villon and
Natalya Goncharova.

This visit was made possible thanks to the generosity
of Sotheby’s and in particular thanks to Melanie Clore
and Helena Newman.
