Joan Miro at Tate Modern

21 apr 2011

Joan Miro, renowned as one of the greatest Surrealist painters, worked in a rich variety of styles. The first major retrospective of his work in nearly 50 years was a rare opportunity to enjoy more than 150 paintings, drawings, sculptures and prints. Miro had an extraordinary career spanning six decades and his profound concern for humanity, his political awareness during turbulent periods of civil war and WWII, and his sense of personal and national identity all found expression in his works.

We would like to extend grateful thanks to Sotheby’s (in particular Melanie Clore and Helena Newman) whose generosity has made this event possible.
